The kiddie pool at Roosevelt Park is a little on the freezing side, but I'll take what I can get, because it's a fun Baltimore/Hampden experience. Let me see if I can find a photo somewhere...

I also found a review of the place on the Examiner blog. It's a year old, but I assume things haven't changed much. Here are some of the highlights from the review:
When I arrived at the pool on Sunday I paid the $1.50 admission fee and I was not asked for identification. Although most fees associated with Baltimore City are ripoffs this one turned out to be a fair deal. . . There was an elaborate kiddie pool with fountains. . . There was some shade provided by trees. . . There were also some boys who thought they could impress my 20-something year old female friends who were 15 years older than them by jumping into the pool and creating huge splashes that soaked all of us. At times these young Hampdenites were almost landing on us. . ."
Now, to be clear, I don't usually mind reading condescending BS, as long as the writer doesn't take himself too seriously. But for someone writing a Baltimore blog (sorry, Examiner writers, you're not journalists or columnists. You're bloggers), you'd expect less hatred for the city. Anyway, let's continue.
The pool was kind of cloudy but it probably was not as dirty as one might expect a Baltimore City pool to be. There seemed to be a lot of chlorine in the water. The floors in the halls that lead to the restrooms were slippery and kids were slipping on them as they ran back and forth to the pool. I was told the female restrooms were disgusting. . . . I would give the pool a C+ grade and considering this is Baltimore City we are talking about, that is a very good grade.
Whatever. I would give this review a D- grade. Considering this is The Examiner we are talking about, that is a very good grade. It's an awesome pool. Go there. The water in the kiddie pool was freezing last time I was there, but I think it made me stronger as a man!

Amen. :)
I got a little bit of rage from twitter after writing that. If you write for the Examiner or know someone who does--fair enough. I was just using the dude's own lines to make a point (he gave the pool a C+, "considering this is Baltimore City," even though he admitted never to have been in a city pool before).
Some Examiner writers/bloggers may be great. OK?
Doesn't mean the Examiner as a whole doesn't use people's wish to see themselves as journalists to get, basically, guest bloggers to drive traffic to their sites. But that's a different issue.
You hit the nail on the head about my misgivings about The Examiner's "writers." I appreciate their off-the-beaten-path musings, but often their suburban sentiments come through in offensive ways.
Love the Hampden Pool! It's A++ all the way.
