It feels terrible to see a local business shut down.
For all the times I went to Dunkin' Donuts for a coffee and a donut, I'm sorry. For every time I settled on supermarket bread, I'm sorry. I wish I had another chance to get a good, local business to reopen.

I'm curious to know whether this has changed your purchasing behavior. Have you patronized the remaining local businesses?
Truth is, I'm not much of a shopper in the first place. My wife, though, always buys gifts in local stores on 36th Street. Both of us--I think it was actually a day after I noticed the bakery was closed--went to the new cloth-diaper store on Falls Rd. and bought a bunch of diapers. And of course we go to local restaurants. But we're really lucky that locally owned restaurants are good and unique.
