David Simon Talks About His Baltimore

About a week after I saw John Waters leaving Eddy's on Roland Avenue, I got to see the other icon of Baltimore, David Simon. I was in BWI, watching a couple of Wire (and The Corner) actors taking pictures with soldiers, and I wondered who else was there, and if any of the actors was going to be on my flight to England.

Sure enough, David Simon got into the plane soon after me. It's funny how the man looks as unassuming in real life as he does on TV and in the video below, considering the influence of his shows (especially The Wire, which was said to be Obama's favorite TV show).

Just as I was looking at him enter the plane, and as I was thinking about how much he looked like One of Us, he turned and disappeared two sections ahead of me in the front of the plane, where people are said to drink champagne and watch really good movies and lie down with goose feathered pillow. It is also said that on First Class, the flights are actually shorter. But who knows?

So that's my David Simon story. I didn't talk to him because I didn't have anything to say. Note to self: always have a witty remark tailored to a local celebrity, because you never know.
