Hey there, Maryland. This is my first time hosting the Maryland Blogger Alliance Carnival, so please let me know if I missed your post or did anything else you didn't approve of (like hinting my opinions were right while yours were wrong) and I will be sure to fix it and update this post.

Michael, over at Monoblogue, writes Quirky but appropriate and says, "I'll bet the regular media ignore this completely," about the scheduled tea parties demonstrations against the administration's economic policy.
Michael also writes about Michael Steele. On his post, Steele vs. Limbaugh, Micheal writes, "I know this hits us a little differently in Maryland, but what I liked about this particular post was the discussion created." It's not an easy subject, which might explain the 21 comments on that posts and also the fact we have a few posts about Steele and Limbaugh for this carnival. It's not easy to find the right way of expressing that delicate position between saying "I hope Obama fails" and hoping the country bounces back from the recession, and I think Michael did a better job than Limbaugh in explaining that point.
Over at Mike's Nether Land, Mike writes Nerve of Steele, giving "My take on the Steele v Limbaugh flap." The post includes Mike's take on "the continual delight the liberals find in pointing out differences between Republicans and Conservatives." Hey, I agree. It's a bit like escapism, though. Things are bad right now, so who can blame us for enjoying a little distraction? And as long as Limbaugh stays in the news, Democrats are in the enviable position where all they need to do is wait for Limbaugh to say something controversial and then see news anchors ask Republican leaders if they want to distance themselves from Limbaugh's statements.

Oh, and I wrote Leave Michael Alone!, where I also put a picture of Steele with a party dinosaur on his shoulder, because Why Not?
Mike writes another political post, where he endorses Andy Harris for Congress! I have to say, if that's Mike in the picture with Harris, then he's not half as scary as he appears on his profile picture.
And Zinzindor, over at Leviathan Montgomery, writes Subsidizing the Horsey Set, about an emergency appropriation for tax-payers to fund the Woodstock Equestrian Center. What's going on there? Either these people haven't heard of the recession or they're using it and the panic that goes along with it to get what they've wanted for a long time.
That's it for politics. Phew. Now let's breathe in and out a few times and relax.

Clark at Clark's Picks, writes Scotty Moore & Eric Clapton: Mystery Train, saying, "Scotty Moore was Elvis' guitarist. In this video he and Eric Clapton recreate one of the classics."

Robert V Sobczak at The South Florida Watershed Journal, writes The South Florida Watershed Journal: Peak leaf season, saying, "Here's some photos taken at Harford County's King and Queen Seat overlooking Deer Creek." It was written in November 4th 2008. Yes We Can.

And finally, Bake My Fish from Boomer Twilight writes about duckpin bowling in Maryland's Dying Sport . . . On a Morphine Drip. It's funny that he writes about the fries. Good to know I'm not alone in thinking the duckpin bowling fries (don't remember where it was. I was still new in town) where the best I've ever tasted.
That's it. At first I thought I would just put links up without any input from me because I thought it would be unfair to post links and then write why I disagreed. Then I thought I would write a few lines here and there because I couldn't help myself. But I sincerely hope I managed to be respectful of the people who sent links, even though we see things differently sometimes. Please forgive me if I'd failed.
(and here's some cut-and-paste:)
That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of Carnival of Maryland using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.

You did fine. The host adding their input makes the Carnival more fun to read - certainly I do so when I host.
Cool. And thanks. It was fun.
Thank you for posting this abbreviated carnival. It was a good idea to include the pictures from each site, too.
I would have submitted my post (on another blog) about Rush's defense of La. Governor Bobby Jindal if I had known he was going to be so central to this edition of the carnival. I gave Michael a pass. He was so un-newsworthy as Lt. Gov that I find it hard to take him seriously as RNC chair.
Clark, I read on a few blogs some good ol' Democratic "Well, they got us now" when Steele was elected. (The same phrase Democrats repeated to themselves after the RNC Convention). But I don't think anyone in Maryland was worried too much. We knew all we had to do was wait for the poor guy to open his mouth.
