Constellation Energy is a Uniter, Not a Divider

Henry Chase Hager
I know Republicans and Democrats disagree on this stimulus thing. I know there's a big debate going on. Are we burdening our grandchildren with debt? Are permanent tax cuts the solution? How much do we have to spend in order to ensure we get our money back? Is this the end of Capitalism?

Thankfully, we can all agree on one thing: we hate BGE and its parent company, Constellation Energy.

There were hearings today and a lot of suits told a lot of other suits that, well, We're doing what we can, and look--this year was just a little colder than last year! And big screen TVs are energy guzzlers!

And no one is convinced. Democrats and Republicans view the world differently, but we all know when we're being scammed.

So it's nice that we can all come together like that. Maybe as a sign of bipartisan cooperation, especially now that the country is turning away from the Jindal and Cantor school of No, Republicans can also hate Constellation for being one of the largest polluters in the country?

I know... I know... I'm a dreamer.

But I'm not the only one!

And on a side note, of course it makes sense that Bush's son-in-law is about to start working for Constellation. He actually moved here with his Jenna to work for them. Sometimes the planets align and everything makes sense.

The rate hikes are due to the significant losses generated by Constellation's ill advised foray into the energy trading markets. This was the brainchild of the somehow still-employed Mayo Shattuck, CEO, who allowed Constellation to accumulate derivative liabilities large enough to require an emergency buyout by a Warren Buffet subsidiary.

I saw those idiots on the news last night. It's been so cold! The kids were on vacation! People bought new TVs for Christmas! Funny how my family's energy usage has gone DOWN from this time last year, because we've been doing all the things BGE says to do to save energy. Oh, and we've been freezing our asses off too. And our bills this year are HIGHER. Explain that, BGE. Why are we paying 30% more to use LESS energy? I'm with you, I hate BGE!

Constellation energy hired the Bush SIL when the Bushies were still safely ensconced in the White House and it looked like McCain had a shot in 2008. With the Democrats now controlling 60% of the Senate, the House and the presidency, I'm not sure that the whiter-than-white (hope he owns sunblock) SIL is going to bring much to the table for Constellation Energy, which was probably counting on SIL's family connections to find a way to quadruple our utility bills. Perhaps one day soon Jenna and her love will quietly leave Charm City and take that much anticipated career path as a residential groundskeepers down in Dallas. Somebody has to mow the lawn and provide cold beverages for the Secret Service.

Baltimore is no place for arrogant Republican Texans.

OSR, you know more than I do. I did see some of that stuff on their Wikipedia page, and considering so many companies edit their own pages, what's there could be just a tiny piece of a greater scandal. Or not a scandal--just the regular good ol' "What are you gonna do about it?"

MommyK, I know. We've been living in the new Ice Age. But we actually haven't bought a new large screen TV in the last year. Maybe we would have if our bills hadn't doubled since last year.

Cham, first of all, I have to give the guy some credit: I would kill for his hair. Look at that... Pantene Pro-V is my first guess, although continued use of Neutrogena will also leave your hair shiny. Okay... I have to be nice... I've had a few visits to the site from BGE computers from Baltimore and Portland yesterday. I'm not taking any chances. I'm going to raise the heating to 90 and open some windows. We're good now?

I'm not sure it's a scandal, just corporate idiocy subsidized the citizens of Maryland. If anything is scandalous, it's the fact that these Valdez captains still have jobs.

I know I know. I took it back just after writing it. I probably should also take back the idea that Republicans are angry with BGE. According to the Sun's Talk Forums Republicans now love BGE and want to have sex with it (mainly because of O'Malley's latest attempt to regulate BGE and because of the new Republican buzz-word: Socialism).
