"Write a nice long story about this"

Epic Cop Fail
So Micheal M. Hughes, a City Paper reporter, got Arrested-While-Celebrating the election results, and ended up peeing himself before spending a night on the floor of Hell, also known as Central Booking. Like at least 16 other AWCs, Hughes wasn't charged. Bigger fish to fry.

Isn't that something? The Baltimore Police joins forces with various state agencies, successfully utilizing DNA evidence to catch the (alleged) murderers of Ken Harris the same day they mess up so badly.

I've written about this same issue before. How is it that Baltimore police officers risk their lives every day for our safety yet remain so hated by so many? In this divided city, where every block tells a different story, where a race war and a class war are always fought beneath the surface, the only thing that unites us all is a tragic mistrust of the people who stand between us and violent crime.

In other words, who gave the order to march onto the crowd in Charles Village, and why haven't they publicly apologized yet?

Baltimore City police are despised because they're lazy, rude, and utterly without self restraint. They behave as if they produce results, the city is safe, and we owe them something.

What they fail to realize is that they do a job which requires a GED, pays around $50,000 a year with benefits, and has little accountability or risk. Seriously, how many rank and file officers have been fired for the city's endless crime problems? Not one. Nobody got fired for their inability to catch Ed Norris.

See, I can't go along with that, even after these election-night arrests. There are people who join the police for the sense of power and privilege, but there are people who join it for very honorable reasons. And there are people who join it because of the money, but no one joins it thinking it's easy money.

Is Ed Norris on the run now that The Wire is over?
