We're getting used to it

getting used to it
Look at that. Murder is down and we're not even excited! Of course, the murder rate has always been nothing but a meaningless statistic for most of us, so why should we get excited? Murder always seems to be something that happens to other people. Funny how that works.

We're getting used to Baltimore being in the news for something other than crime. Phelps is back in town after bringing honor and glory to our part of the world. On behalf of everyone in Baltimore who has never brought glory to the world, and never will, thanks.

And we're getting used to three "For Sale" signs per block, and the way these signs are quietly replaced by "For Sale--Bank Owned."

Is Jenna Bush still here? We're not even excited about living next door to the spawn of evil anymore. People get used to anything.

I'm seeing multiple For Sale signs in in blocks located in neighborhoods I never would have imagined.

It's not just the For Sale. It's the For Sale--Bank Owned, which means foreclosures. For a while we had a lot of houses selling in the neighborhood, but houses aren't selling anymore, and people have lost everything they had.

Yeah it's very sad that people don't even bat an eye anymore when watching or reading about crime in our neighborhoods, sadly so many don't notice as much until it happens to close to home. Media has a lot to do with it when it's all we watch on TV, read in Newspapers and see in the Movies... we've become some how numb to it. As far as the
"for sale signs", with a worsening economy signs really are going up every where.. I just hope real relief will be here soon.

I know. I think I'm putting too much faith in the elections. I hope too much, you know? But it's not like we have anything else to work with here.
